It doesn’t take much. Something in the back of Rowan’s mind complains about after care, but it’s too late. Max’s gentle hands and warm body under them are enough to lull them closer into sleep. They feel safe in his arms, feel like they’re in the place they’re meant to be. “I’ll stay.” They promise, before slipping into sleep, still clutching to his collar.

Once he's sure he's gotten his way, he settles in with his arm draped over them. His eyes close. And he's out before he even has time to think twice.
