IC INFORMATION
Name: Rowan "Rallies-Protests" Lewis
Canon: TTRP ( Werewolf: the Apocalypse) OC
Age: 27
Gender: Agender
Species: Garou (werewolf)
Appearance: Visual
Average height, completely androgynous, with a round, open face. Despite their slight figure, they stand with confidence and move with a dancer's grace, and are not afraid to take up space in a room, while still being aware of the others within it. They have short brown hair in an unsymmetrical cut that flops over one side of their face, pale, white skin, grey eyes and usually wear a bright, friendly smile. Their wardrobe tends towards layers of drab colours to hide their figure, and to keep them unnoticeable in a crowd, and they avoid jewellery outside of two ear piercings. The only notable part of their wardrobe is a large bandana style scarf, which they almost always have with them. Under their clothes they have a long set of claw marks that go from one shoulder to the small of their back, and a large bite mark on the upper part of their left arm.

Canon point: One week after defeating the wyrmhole that caused the attack on the City of London sept.
History: Here, or TL;DR here

Personality answers:
Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.
The attack on the City of London is still fresh enough to be revealing it's affect on Rowan, but it's already made a huge impact on them. It's the point where they stop thinking of themself as human first instead start thinking of themself as Garou first. That might not sound as a big change, but it's the step that leads Rowan (as part of their pack) to make a big change in their sept, and later, as they get even more powerful, Garou culture as a whole. By truly accepting that part of their nature, rather than suppressing it or trying to warp it to fit the way that they've known the world until their first change, they're in a better position to force change from the inside. It's also the point that Rowan and their pack go from being misfits that are endured, to being a driving force of the sept. Rowan goes from a self-gelded oddity who asks too many questions, to being the hero that not only found the wrymhole, but faced real danger to ensure it's demise.

What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?

Like a lot of trans folk, Rowan is very particular about their own appearance. They've spent a lot of time and effort reaching the equilibrium they present today, but it's also been almost a decade since they've had to do much more than maintenance to keep their dysphoria at bay. They mostly stick to very drab clothing, and anyone particularly perceptive might notice that there's really nothing that could be used to pick them out of a crowd. No noticeable jewellery, no bright coloured hair or clothes, no branded items. This was also a very conscious choice: they've seen one too many battle jackets make someone an easy pick for police, and they want to be able to disappear into any group they're part of. Only on club nights do they really let themself really stand out.

However, they're very open to other people's personal styles, and not one to judge books by their cover. It's only their own appearance that they pick apart so finely; they're much more likely to compliment than criticise anyone else.

What would your character say is their best trait? What is truly their best trait?
Rowan's ability to inspire others is so impressive that they've been honoured with a deed name that shows this: Rallies-Protests. It's one of their great disappointments that they're not able to share this with their mums, because they know that their family would be just as proud of this as Rowan is themself. They're glad that they can use their gift of the gab to lift others, and even more pleased when they can see the effect on a crowd or an individual. Something about giving someone else the power to push forward and achieve fills Rowan with inspiration in turn, and they will never stop trying to inspire people to change the world.

Their true best trait is their eternal optimism. They're a little ray of sunshine, and it takes a lot to beat them down. No matter what happens, not only will they see the positives, but have the strength and willpower to fight to bring that light to those around them. It's this power that they tap into when inspiring the people around them to stand up and fight the system, and the same power that they use to bolster their pack and now their sept in dark times.

What is justice to your character? How important is it to them?
Equality. If there's one thing that their mums really wanted Rowan to grow up with, this was it, and Rowan attended their first protests on their Mum's chest in a sling as a baby. It's as immutable to them as the earth being round: justice means equality for all. Everyone has a place in the world, and everyone should have the ability to find it, regardless of the circumstances of their birth. It's something that they will, and frequently have, stand up for, that they encourage those around them to believe in as much as they do, and it's something that they truly believe might be the answer to the myriad of issues with their world.

Inventory:
  • Magically jailbroken, relatively up to date smart phone.
  • Spider satchel – bag of holding, werewolf edition, able to hold three times as much stuff as a normal satchel of the same size, including technology, and carry them across the gauntlet into the spirit world. It's the size of a normal over the shoulder laptop bag.
  • Up to date linux laptop, specialised to coding and magically jailbroken.
  • Small, golden hoop earring.  Deceptively simple from a distance, but up close engraved with delicate runes. A spirit is bound within it that when activated suppresses their rage (for 4d10x10 minutes), allowing them to interact with humans (anyone less than 4 willpower) without scaring/spooking them, while blocking Rowan from their ability to shift/frenzy.

Powers/Abilities:
Native werewolf abilities:
  • 5 shapeshifting forms: Homid (human – Rowan's native form), Glabro (wolfman), Crinos (war form), Hispo (dire wolf) and Lupus (wolf).  Each shape has it's own advantages and disadvantages – the more wolf you are, the more your mental attributes suffer, but you're faster and more dexterous, in war form you're at your strongest, but more prone to frenzy. The only exception is Glabro – Rowan's Glabro form is unusually human in appearance, to the point that they can actually pass for human while in it, so they don't lose the social attributes that they normally would, while still gaining an advantage in strength. They can only communicate with humans in the first three shapes, and with wolves in the last three. Werewolves have their own language that they've developed that are designed around the Crinos form, that can also be used to some degree in glabro and hispo.
  • outside of Rowan's native form (human), they heal at an accelerated rate, and it is possible for them to survive what would otherwise be lethal wounds. This doesn't apply to aggravated damage (silver, werewolf/vampire bites, fire, plus a few magical damages), which need to heal at a normal speed. Should they be wounded in human form, they can shift to another form to heal the damage.
  • has the potential to lose control in a fight and go into frenzy, during which they would fight anyone too close to the death, whether or not they're friend or foe, or run away, tearing through anything and anyone in their way. In the worst case scenario, they would abandon the fight to consume the dead.
  • can use super speed, in return for the possibility of going into frenzy
  • can enter the spirit world and become a part of it (although they're not particularly adept at this for a werewolf), and interact with the spirits there (though they cannot directly communicate with any outside of their pack totem). Works best with a reflective surface to concentrate on. All of their Gifts are granted to them by petitioning a spirit to teach them the ability.
Gifts:
  • using their connection to the spirit world, they can form a bond between their computer and any other digital device, despite operating system, lack of connection etc. (Plug and Play)
  • very good memory; can occasionally remember things to photographic levels (Perfect recall)
  • was trained by a spirit to magically be able to make themselves more persuasive and to sound more believable (persuasion)
  • for one minute, all physically or digitally locked doors will unlock in their presence (magically locked ones are made easier to open, but don't unlock automatically). (Intrusion)
  • by shouting or howling, they can draw the forces of evil to them and force them out of hiding (Call of the wyrm)
  • by being Very Annoying they can distract an enemy for three rounds about 30 seconds, making them easier to be attacked (distractions)
  • they are adept at running around cityscapes, and can climb buildings/run over rooftops as easily as most people can on the ground. (City Running)
Rites:
  • with the aid of two other werewolves, they can call on the spirit of any material and convince it to nourish a seed, allowing plants to grow in places that they normally wouldn't (carpark, inside a building, on a roof, etc.) (rite of growth)
  • can bind items to their body so that they won't be destroyed during the transformation to any of their forms. This can involve either changing to fit the shape for the more humanoid forms, or completely merging with the body for wolflike forms. Limited to four items (a complete outfit counts as one item, inc. shoes and (non-fetish) earrings; their spider satchel and earring are bound to them separately as part of their inherent magic.) (rite of Talisman Dedication)
  • they can ritually cleanse a small area, item or person of evil influence (Rite of Cleansing)

Non-mystical abilities:
  • unusually good with computers. Has a masters degree in programming and has programmed and sold apps.
  • extremely charismatic (5/5 dots). The type of person that everyone gets along with, whether they intended to or not.
* While not a native ability of theirs, they also have pack telepathy from their totem, allowing them telepathy specifically within the members of their pack. This isn't something they have access to without both their totem and their pack, so it's already completely nullified by the game itself, with no chance of them gaining it back/it working with other characters. I'm mostly mentioning it here so that the mods (and other players) are aware that they have experience with telepathy, and know why there might be mention of it around them.

(In terms of nerfing, outside of any restrictions given by the mods, I intend to completely restrict their ability to access the other four of their werewolf forms, for fun and character reasons, see goals. The only thing that I would ask to be left fully functional is their ability to bind clothes to them so they're not left naked/in ripped clothes after transformation (rite of talisman dedication): the dysphoria of being exposed would stop them from transforming under any circumstances otherwise. It's an addition that they have entirely for multi-fandom games to make them playable, because in TTRP they rely on other Garou for it. If it has to be altered, I'm happy for it to be unreliable or ineffective for anyone else.)

Goals: So. Rowan has had the ability to shift into a monstrous form for, at this point, almost ten years, and at this level can be considered pretty adapt at it, as well as comfortable with the concept, the physical change, and the physicality of their other forms. I want to screw them over by mucking with that, and I want to completely nerf their ability to shift into a wolf, so they'll be forced to use their new form, plus get used to that carrying over into their human form. Because Garou society is so secretive, they've not had to face people seeing them as a monster. And who doesn't love playing with that?

I'm looking forward to subjecting them to body changes that won't trigger major dysphoria in them, making them face something that should feel familiar, but at the same time is entirely new. Because they like to be helpful they'll be inclined to try and help everyone else through the changes that they're going through without admitting to themself that it's new for them as well; in the future of their own canon they're going to end up being a den parent, looking after all the cubs facing the change for the first time, so no one should be surprised if they try and insert themself into that role here.

Although their canon point means they know that their home and pack is currently safe, they've never been away from home for this long, nor from their pack since it was formed. They're social to a fault, and while they're not usually too clingy or pack dependent, suddenly not having your pack mates always there as a constant in your head (because of pack telepathy) will be a dramatic change for them at this point. There will be some clinging to whoever lets them close.

The setting itself will intrigue them as well. They're disposed to Not Get Along with big corporations, especially ones doing experiments on people without permission. But they're also weak willed to being told that people need help (and to their pressing curiosity), so they will certainly go out of the city walls to see if there's anything they can do out there to help, and they'll encourage people to help them because goodness knows they need someone with actual muscle nearby. Within the city itself, between their natural charisma and their Aves form, they'll do what they can to get the general population on the Augumented's side. I'm looking forward to seeing if they'll be able to make any long term shifts in things!

Soul Choice: Aves specifically a combination of the rose-ringed parakeet and the monk parakeet because  London's local parrots. While Rose-ringed parakeets are definitely more common (from my own experience lol), the monk parakeet has no distinct sexual dimorphism (unlike the rose-ringed), but I like the solid green of the rose-ringed too so I'm just combining them because I can. They're both excellent mimics and known for their ability to mimic human speech, so I'd like to propose an ability based on them: the ability to perfectly mimic any sounds (including words) they've heard before. Like a DnD kenku, this would be limited to words that they've heard someone using, so they wouldn't be able to take someone's voice and make up an entire speech in that voice, but they would be able to mix and match words – though the tone/cadence might be off in that case. This would replace Sway of the Anemoi. I'm obviously open to any suggestions/alterations you want to make around this!
